If this is new to you, here’s a quick history lesson. National Bike Month has been a tradition among bike enthusiasts since 1956. Started by the League of American Bicyclists, May became the designated month to show off how ridiculously awesome bikes are and hopefully gain some new riders.

Electra is always down with the get down. This one especially since it hits near and dear to our hearts. Bikes have been our jam since 1993, and while there’s nothing wrong with click-y shoes and tight shorts, we aim to put the fun into bike riding again. That’s why we make bikes with the intention of getting more people on bikes more often. From the classic Cruisers to our top-notch Townie Path Go!, an Electra bike gives everyone the power to get out on two wheels.

So, if you’re a proud owner of an Electra, or any bike (promise we won’t hold it against you ?), join us in celebrating this month. Here are a few ways how:

• Ditch your car and take your two-wheeled ride for your nearby errand runs.
• Give your bike some TLC: wipe it down, pump up the tires and grease the chain.
• Treat yourself and your bike! Dress it up with a new bell, basket or bag.
• Enjoy a sunset ride to the sound of our National Bike Month playlist.
