The Bike Break Challenge

The Bike Break Challenge

There are many pros to the work from home (WFH) lifestyle. The no-commute factor is an obvious win. All it takes is a few steps from the bedroom to the kitchen to “order” your coffee and another few steps to your “cubicle” to settle in for another day’s work. You have access to unlimited snacks as long as you hit Trader Joe’s that week. Not to mention, you’re doing your part to keep your loved ones and community safe.

However, we know it’s not always the fairytale it’s cracked out to be. Your new “co-workers” can sometimes be overbearing. Queue kids playing with their talking doll in the background, or four-legged friend chewing on their favorite toy which also happens to have the loudest squeaker known to man. Let’s be real, the same four walls can also suck the productive juices right out of you. Lucky for you, your two-wheeled ride can be the break you never knew you needed.

Which has brought us to our purpose for being here today. We want you to join us for our Bike Break Challenge. It’s a very unofficially, official challenge that requires you to hop on your bike when you’re hitting that caffeine come-down or post-lunch slump. We’re not talking a 100 miler. An easy five to ten minute jaunt around the hood is all it takes to get your mind back in action.

Even before WFH became our reality, we always enjoyed and encouraged bike breaks at the Electra Headquarters. Something about fresh air and getting your blood flowing can really rejuvenate the mind. Trust us, this is a break that your boss is going to support. You’ll return to return to your “cubicle” with a fresh perspective on work for the rest of the day. Massive Excel spreadsheet? Conquered. That report you’ve been sitting on for the last week? Piece of cake.

There are plenty of super scientific studies that prove it only takes five minutes outside a day to boost your overall mood. Although we’re not changing our name to Dr. Electra, this is a prescription we can get behind.

There is one other criteria for this challenge. When you do head outside for your bike break, we ask that you share it with us! Tag us on social media using #ElectraLove and let us know where your break took you that day.
